Kindergarten Registration
Tuslaw parents with children who will be five years old on or before August 1, 2025, are encouraged to register their children for Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year. Please complete the Kindergarten Survey below and the school will contact you (starting the beginning of March) to schedule a screening appointment and provide you with instructions for completing the necessary forms. Please complete the survey below prior to May 1, 2025.
Again after the survey is completed the school will contact you to schedule Kindergarten screening appointments which will take place at Tuslaw Elementary School on May 8 and May 9.
National Blue Ribbon School Award

National Blue Ribbon School 2024
Tuslaw Middle School in Tuslaw Local Schools has been designated as an Exemplary High Performing Schools National Blue Ribbon School for 2024 by U. S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona.
Nationwide only 316 schools were chosen. Tuslaw Middle School is one of only 43 middle schools in the nation to receive this award. Fourteen total schools from Ohio received this honor, only 5 of those were middle schools.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools award recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students achieve at high levels or are making notable improvements in closing the achievement gap among student groups. Since 1982, the U. S. Department of Education has sought out and celebrated great American schools. The National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content.

Open Enrollment Application
Open Enrollment Applications for consideration are accepted in person on the first school day in April for the following school year. They are date and time stamped, that is the order in which they are reviewed. Tuslaw High School and Middle School open at 7:00am and applications can be brought in starting then. One application per child and one proof of residency must be submitted at that time. If a child has an IEP or 504Plan a copy must be submitted with the application.
Applications will be acted upon by the end of May for grades 1-12. Kindergarten will not be decided until the first week in August, we do recommend registering your child in the district in which you live. Decisions for accepting students are based on our enrollment numbers for students that live in our district.
The first school day we will begin accepting Open Enrollment Applications for the
2025-2026 school year is April 1, 2025 in person.

Elementary Substitute Teachers Needed
There currently is a shortage of substitute teachers across Stark County. Tuslaw would like to add substitute teachers at Tuslaw Elementary. The pay rate for these subs will be $100 a day. Having a bachelor’s degree is one of the major requirements. Purple Star Designation
We are pleased to announce that the Ohio Department of Education has selected the Tuslaw Local School District as a Purple Star School District. The Purple Star designation recognizes districts that meet important criteria for serving military-connected students and families.
